I just replied to a 311 Cruise retweet from Pnut... We got a Prince cover on the last cruise. I asked for a Pantera cover (RIP Vinnie) on Cruise VI. I just picture the boat going fucking bananas. I'm pretty sure miT would be on board with it, and imagine Chad would be for it as well. Not sure about Pnut, Nick, and SA - but damn, let's give it a go!

Even a straight up cover plays to their strengths - that funky bassline and crisp guitar line, Nick can hang with the vocal range, Chad can have fun with the beat. SA can change Merona button-ups backstage.

Dude this is what I used to say.... it’s such a no brainer. Especially the way the Dead played it in 1977/1978. Those versions already sound like a 311 song....... ......or wait

Covers are cool. D’yer Mak’er was so well received I don’t know why they don’t do it more often. The double take on Nicks face when SA unleashed on that verse is priceless. They have to do something to bring some more creativity into the live shows. Why not tap into something like covers or even let Mahoney jam out every once in a while. I always crack up at setlists labeled “w/ jam intro” dude it’s 30 seconds.

Youre so right... finally another jam fan on the BB.. more covers and Jams are a good idea.. .and yes 311 jams arent even long, so its not that big of a deal for the non-jam fans to listen for an extra 30 seconds to 2 minutes

I’ve always gotten a Dead vibe from Tim and then to have them expand on it for a few minutes in ETSD3 made me think... dude you’re on to something. Fucking let Tim run with a solo even if you dedicate it to one song. He’s begging to let loose he’s a natural and all the “jamming” he does ends WAY too soon. There’s so much wasted potential IMO
