thing is, halo & cod4 were actually fun, not microtransaction-ridden on top of initial cost. I don't play games that use microtransactions as a business model. it's disgusting. plus, the art style sucks ass.

It’s purely cosmetic and everything can be earned through normal gameplay. You’re gonna totally dismiss the game over some skins?

I'm totally dismissing the game because it's multiplayer only, and uses microtransactions as a business model. I will not support microtransactions in any form; they are a plague and need to be eradicated.

I tried playing it for a few hours at a friends' house, but I don't see how it's any better than TF2 (which was way more fun and FREE, as all microtransaction games should be).

Man, the release of that Spider Man game is really the only time I'm bummed I don't have a PS4 instead of XBOX One. It looks awesome. One of my favorite games is Sunset Overdrive and Spider Man was made by the same company, which is an excellent choice. Sunset Overdrive was fun even when you're doing nothing, just getting from point A to B in that game is great.

Ha, I literally replied to a post on FB five minutes ago (which is more important than it sounds - I don't do a lot of FB-ing):

I'm still in my first play through. Is it normal to have spent like 80% of the time swinging around doing nonsense instead of advancing the story? I'm actually assuming the answer is "It should be more like 90%."

The game messed me up with travellng, though. I could be in NE NYC and have to swing to SW and be fine with it. But they do have a fast travel system, and the the loading screens for fast travel are so glorious, I'm not conflicted.

Super best friends channel announced on Sunday that they were ending the channel/brand for good. That channel had been a thing for maybe 8 years or so, and I've watched it on and off. It was my go to for lets plays of games I never would never play or finish myself. Their RE7 playthrough was fantastic and I was really looking forward to them playing the future RE2 remake. The real kicker, though, is them saying that the main two people are no longer friends. The show started as Two Best Friends play. It honestly hurt to read that. Would be like if 311 came out and said they hated each other's guts for the last decade and they're disbanding.

I started playing The Evil Within this weekend. I've already died like 8 million times, why the fuck is it so hard? Actually I think I was making it harder than it is and am starting to get the hang of some of the tricks of the game. So far it is pretty cool. Like some of you guys have mentioned, I don't quite get what the "story" is, but I'm diggin it. Plus I got it for $4 so what the fuck.

I don't remember if they give you a kill count at the end or not but I bet mine was in the hundreds.

That game is pretty unforgiving at times. Especially with the whole "lol here's one bullet for the dozen enemies in the next two rooms" thing.

I have no doubt mine will be the same.
Right! But I'm starting to get better at using some of the environmental hazards and shit like that, which I was not really aware of for the first little while of playing the game. Still completely fuckin ridiculous sometimes but overall I like it. Maybe not as much as either of the RE games I've played so far, but still worth the while.

has anyone expanded their PS4 storage with an external/portable hard drive? The 500 GB has filled up fast and I think I'd rather go with externals than routinely changing/upgrading the internal one

I did a little while back. It is ridiculously easy - takes like 20 minutes, maybe more depending on how full your HD is.

Google it - which you probably already have - the way they make out sound easy to do... it really is.

I went with a Seagate Firecuda 2Tb. It was the best compromise of speed / size / price at the time (like a year ago). There might be a better option out now, not sure.

If you're full, look into recent articles on the best HD to go with. You won't get a huge bump in speeds (a small increase in load times, but nothing you'll really notice), and I don't think it effects gameplay at all. But being able to install a new game or download an update that is like 15 gigs for some unknown reason - it's nice to not have to think about what to delete to make room.

Finished the story in RDR2. Still an amazing game, but I did have some complaints. Anybody else finished it yet?

    Yep, 100% on the story.

    *****SPOILER*****

I thought the epilogue was way too long and ultimately detracted from the Arthur storyline. I liked how it finished connecting the dots to RDR1, but felt like they could have cut out 10+ hours of fluff (the first farm, chores, some of the bounty hunting with Sadie, etc). I did like the stuff with Abigail and John, but the rest of it felt mostly inconsequential and seemed to drag on.

So ultimately RDR2 didn't make me love it immediately like RDR1 did. It was much slower, darker, deeper, and more poignant than RDR1. Whereas John Marston was charismatic and relatable, Arthur's self-loathing and complaining (along with his ridiculously exaggerated accent) mostly got on my nerves. But he grew on me by the end (especially after he got sick). I also feel like he deserved a better death. After all we went through with him, his death is just exhaling on a mountain after a fist fight?

    What were your thoughts?

I can see why you felt the epilogue dragged. But it seemed like 100% fan service so basically you had to just separate that whole bit from the main story to judge it.

As far as the Arthur story is concerned, I loved him as a character. I felt he was much more fleshed out and more alive than John ever was in RDR1. I had the “honourable” ending which I am very pleased I got. Would have been a lot more unsatisfied with the game if Arthur ended the story with one of the “dishonourable” endings.

I’ve never felt that much emotional investment in a game and I feel like having such a long epilogue gave me the chance to reflect back on the main story and Arthur as a character even more because of it. It made me appreciate it even more and made him feel even more real. Pretty crazy stuff.

I am as big of a RDR1 fan as there is and I still felt like the epilogue was mostly superfluous. The first farm should have never taken as long as it did (or even been included at all) IMO.

I DID like the time with Charles and Uncle building the ranch as well as hitting the town with Abigail. All of that felt relevant as a prequel to RDR1.

Like I said, the story in this one is much deeper, darker, and more melancholy. The whole time you know you're marching toward Arthur's death and it hangs over your head like a black cloud. I appreciate some depth and seriousness, but I like some balance too. RDR2 was a little depressing to me.

These are all minor complaints though. The game was fantastic and the depth of the story is only rivaled by a couple games I've ever played. I hope they continue the series and it doesn't take them another 8 years for the next game...
