I didnt like LnR for a long time. Punk rock is not one of my favorite genres. But eventually something clicked. SAs first verse and Nick's second verse hit so fucking hard. That riff is incredible.

I'm at ease when I feel the breeze
    Give me a little please
Aristotle I'm not, but think Im Socrates
Are you ready for your lesson blood?
    Democratic, non erratic, Socratic method!!!!

That is still one of my favorite SA lines. I do wish the last half chorus ended with the other line. Much more badass finishing the album with FTBS Were still the sound!

Mindspin should have been the album closer.

I think L&R ties up Soundsystem nicely, despite how much I love Mindspin.

Yeah I really wish they'd play Applied Science minus the drum show.

If more people posts lists i'll do some stats

LnR kind of feels like a caffeined-up Mindspin. It's faster, sloppier, and not better - just fast fun. Both tracks would make great closers. Mindspin has that stretching out, breaking down equipment type ending. LnR has that mic drop ending. Knowing what we know now, I'm glad they went with LnR. They've put out great stuff since then, but I think Soundsystem was their last chance to go out on top, general popularity-wise. And they went out with a band with LnR.

JFC. That's so embarrassing. They shoulda just scrapped a chorus for that song and ripped through some verses.

Mindspin is a top 3 311 song for me, maybe even #1. And I think it would have also worked as a closer too. I like L&R as it, it's a very nice punch that encompasses the reggae-anthem that is Soundsystem. I guess I just find it interesting when bands end an album with a short and fast song when it works well, because I think it's much more common to see a long and/or slow song as the final track to an album. So it's refreshing to me to hear albums put a short fast song as the final track (again, when it works well). Same thing with T&P Combo.

Which is better? Not sure. I'd be happy with either.

Everyone putting grassroots last is wrong.

I'm not even gonna try.. because i feel like i would put 8:16 and applied science towards the bottom just because im kinda sick of them.

That said.. six is at the top for me

I had a similar reaction, and then realized I just can't be mad. The ranking differences are razor thin, and can be swayed by things like preferring harder rocking stuff, instrumental creativity, etc.

This is the only album of theirs where I can probably have any variety of rankings and not think, "Absolutely not!".

Taiyed never really did it for me. Salsa could move around depending on the day...

Overall this album was very difficult for me to rank as I love most of the songs!

Freeze Time's original chorus sucked balls too.

You are not wrong. But I had more of a "Whoa, this is terrible" reaction to that, versus the straight up "haha what is this?" reaction to LnR's.

No way I can rank 'em, but I do know Omaha Stylee is my favorite. Always has been, probably always will be. Not sure why I'm not sick of it yet.

Offbeat Bareass, with SA verses shit-canned, would be a solid #2 (both puns intended). Tummy farts bring it down to the bottom third. Can't believe I just typed tummy farts.
