This was tough. I am still waiting for Dream State to fully click. I also love Crossfire and make no apologies for that, even though I probably should.

Better Space and Charge have been the strongest “growers,” while S&T has dropped a bit.

I imagine my top 3 will be cemented in for eternity, plus a hundred years or so.

I don't get the people that have rolling through at like 4th. It might be the only standout track on the album. Crossfire is pretty good too, but its "tainted".

This album reminds me of a lot of the filler tracks on evolver. Like, eh they're good and sound like 311, but just...kinda watered down. Like reconsider everything, crack the code, still dreaming, give me a call.

I can say with confidence I like the album more than Uplifter and DTOM. Probably UP too. But it's below Stereolithic and Mosaic for sure. Neck and neck with Evolver.

You like Crossfire. Your credibility is watered down

    Updated...

Orgasmic, up there with my favorites of post-2000s 311:
    1. Dream State
    2. Charge It Up

    Really great:
    3. Better Space
    4. Rolling Through

All Solid: (6-8 are all pretty interchangeable)
    5. Space and Time
    6. Stainless
    7. Don't You Worry
    8. What The?!

I like it, but the whole Noisestorm thing is keeping me from fully enjoying it:

    9. Crossfire

I like these two but I have some issues with them:

    10. Lucid Dreams
    11. Born to Live

Don't like either of these, the only thing they have going for them is I like them more than TTCOF, and maybe more than TMTT:

    12. Dodging Raindrops
    13. Good Feeling

All in all I really like this album. Probably more than Mosaic and less than Stereolithic, but time will tell. Bring on the b-sides.

The good thing is you don't need credibility to post on a message board

Ok, 311 ripped the song off someone else. The good news is that you can enjoy a song without considering the credibility of how it was written.

People act like the song is a product of some inhumane sweatshop in another country that abuses their workers at the expense of the almighty dollar. Chill...

No one is acting like that. The song is not a 311 song. But worst of all, they were never going to tell us. It is definitely, and shall forever be, tainted.

After a week or so listening to this like crazy, only a few songs switched around for me.

    Rolling Through
    Stainless
    What The?!
    Better Space
    Charge It Up
    Don't You Worry
    Space and Time
    Born to Live
    Crossfire
    Dream State
    Lucid Dreams
    Dodging Raindrops
    Good Feeling

"Rolling Through" and "Stainless" are still at the top. Opposite styles of 311 but equally as awesome. I also dug What The?! from the start, nice feel good/jammy 311 that I like from the old days.

Some of the songs like "Space and Time" and "Better Space" finally clicked with me and I have been singing those like crazy. "Charge It Up" doesn't really have anything specifically special about it, it's just a good song. "Don't You Worry" has definitely grown on me a lot since it came out, but it's hard to compare it to the other songs that feel newer right now.

I still like "Born to Live" quite a bit (possibly the catchiest on the record). "Crossfire" is a good listen and a decent heavy opener with a lot of energy, but I had to struggle to listen to it after the controversy. Once the full thing leaked, that track got shelved for me unfortunately.

I know I'm in the minority, but "Dream State" just doesn't do much for me. It just kind of drones on, and I know it's supposed to be dreamy/trippy but I don't feel like the vocals match the low-end-guitar instrumental going on. I don't know, it just feels off compared to the other Chad tracks.

"Lucid Dreams" has actually grown on me quite a bit (but still low on my list). I actually like it now even though it's a little repetitive. Same with "Dodging Raindrops". I really liked that song when I first heard it, but after I got familiar with it, the novelty wore off and the repetitive chorus started to get a little irritating. Still a decent track, and I'm satisfied that that's the one that I like second to last - that's a testament to how much I like the whole album.

Still haven't warmed up to "Good Feeling" and I actually dislike it even more in the context of the album. It ruins the momentum, but luckily it's picked back up by "What The?!"

    Good review.

Don’t forget to vote in the super-important official poll (if you haven’t already). Thanks! :)

If Stainless and Rolling Through were Feldmann tracks most of you sheep would rank them near the bottom. Lighten the fuck up.
