Sharkey, hope your ER trip was better than my 21st birthday when I took out the trash, cut my finger spinning the giant bag as I took it out to put a twistie tie on it, went to the ER and spent 13 hours to get 4 stitches. I don't bother making a trip now unless I look like Mr. Orange.

My boss told me to prepare my resume and cover letter for a Demand Analyst position that I've been wanting for a while.

Better not throw up from nerves if I get an interview :lazy:

I hope you land it, sounds promising af

When I got the current job I’m in I became pretty emotional. It was a life changing event both financially and personally. Best of luck.

You threw a few extra letters onto the end of the title.

    Thanks, broseph!

It would probably be a small pay increase to what I'm making now, but moving into that role would finally leverage my best skillsets.

I have good relationships with the demand team and am going to sharpen up on some technical skills this weekend. Fingers crossed. It's my dream job other than being the GM of a professional sports team.

    Dem Analyst :blacula:

That strangely reminds me of the time some friends and I watched Jackass in theater a long time ago. "Dickhouse Productions" flashed on the screen, someone proudly declared "IT SAYS HOUSE", and we laughed about that for a good 6 minutes.

I found out yesterday that Ricky The Dragon Steamboat's real name is Richard Blood, which is fucking hilarious. When I told someone at work today, they Googled it to verify and then discovered that today happens to be Dick Blood's birthday. What are the fuckin odds? It's been a good couple of days, needless to say.

**Edit** I meant to have put this in the Random, Brief Thoughts thread but eh fuck it.

thought i broke my ribs once. woke up after heavy drinking in the morning. Couldn't breathe without extreme pain, nor could i lay on that side in bed. was worried I somehow blacked out and got in a fight (which never happens to me). Went to university health services and they said it was most likely the supporting muscles that lay under/around the ribs just got bruised or damaged and that I should be fine in a few days.

Didn't piece together what actually happened until a couple days later. My work vehicle had a really touchy inertia locking seatbelt. Tried reaching for my glove box and it locked with the seatbelt pressing right against where my ribs hurt.

TLDR: hurt myself on the fucking seatbelt and thought i broke my ribs

    Speaking of ribs...

Since I was like 15, I noticed a little lump at the bottom of my rib cage. My doctor advised me to take ibuprofen to reduce the swelling. So that was the quality of medical care I was receiving.

Over the years, it got slightly bigger. My girlfriend now wife was always concerned by it, which I responded with the always solid medical advice of, "don't worry about it."

The past few years it's basically turned into a little ceremonial horn. I figured I should maybe find out what is going on. Turns out, it's called the xiphoid process - which is a pretty awesome sci fi name.

Based on my extensive research, AKA when I am bored late at night and think "maybe I should look into this thing looking to puncture my skin", it starts as cartilage and slowly turns into bone over decades. By 40 it's basically solid bone (lolz), and since I'm a year shy of 40 (39), it's turning into a weapon.

But the big thing is it is supposed to curve inward, which is why you never see it or hear about it. About 5% of people have it curve outward. So sorry to brag, but I'm in the elite 5% of the world. I also have a split uvula, so it seems I like to collect really dumb human oddities.

I'm tired but wide awake. I can't get back to sleep. I have to be at my 2nd job at 7:00. So I have to be up soon. And I'm out of coffee. :(

I don't listen to the radio much besides sometimes when I'm driving to work. I'm listening to Spotify 95% of the time these days. But I used to listen to more radio in my car. In 2014 there was a song that kept coming on that hit that happy music spot in my brain. I kept meaning to look it up but forgot. When I moved here I started hearing that song again. But I'm lazy. 3 years later I kept hearing a song I couldn't get out of my head. I looked it up and found it was the same band. 48 hours later I was addicted more than I ever was to 311. This is the 2014 song I failed to follow up on. And their only song to make it on the charts in the US.

All this talk about ribs, I'm actually currently having a weird issue. Since the summer, I've been having pain in my upper left side and I had trouble pinpointing exactly where it was. Lately I'm noticing it all seems to be radiating from one of my upper ribs, a little below my armpit. I've been a little worried about this. For a little while I've thought maybe I broke the rib up there somehow but that seems preposterous. Maybe it's just sore muscles from how I sit at work and then working out at the gym. Either way, I was so annoyed with all the bullshit I went through with a different medical issue last year with doctors basically not knowing a goddamn thing and just sending me around different places and paying a bunch of money for jack shit that I've, sadly, been reluctant to go to a doctor.

They didn't seem to be particularly busy that night but, to better paint the picture, once I was admitted I was in a hospital room with a TV and watched the movie Deep Impact in it's entirety on cable with all of the commercial breaks. I can't possibly conceive ever wanting to watch that thing again. Unless I get the Corona.

Story of my life dude. Been doing that song and dance routine since 2010. I’ve more or less given up trying to truly get a solid resolution on my spine because of the amount of doctors I’ve been passed around to. And then these recurring rib problems are now starting.

I want to get off Mr. Bones Wild Ride.

Yeah man, well at least go from Mr. Bones Wild Ride to Mr. Boners's Wild Ride, nah'sayin'?

I know you've mentioned about your spine before, and I don't think anything I've dealt with is near as serious. So I can't imagine how frustrating that's been for you. For an issue I had last year (still do), I went to different doctors and 3 of them openly questioned the actions of the others right in front of me. Like what the fuck am I supposed to do about that? I didn't go to med school, I'm supposed to trust these people.
