I don’t quite remember THAT Nirvana song...
Yeah it was a full on mariachi version NIrvana made of Smells LIke Teen Spirit. Smells Like Mi Familia. It was more of a love song to tacos than anything.
Oh yeah. I think the chorus went:
With house lights out
On the rail now
For what what I have learned since I’ve been a huge 311 fan(since 2006) this is what I’ve concluded:
-Nick:holy shit man get on your weird side! You are awesome song writer when you DGAFA what others think. Keep writing stuff with Gabe Issac! Trust Scotch! He seems to know your fans very well. You will never be as popular as the Blue Album or Amber days, so stop that shit! Nick you are awesome with your weird shit aka “Make if Rough”, “ Friday Afternoon”. Keep that shit up!!!
-Tim: What the fuck man what you holding back? Didn’t you right the best part of “Never Ending Summer” some of “The Great Divide”, and all of “Face in the Wind” best song ever this decade??? Write more with no holding back!
-SA: just don’t stop man. “It’s Getting Okay Now” is great, everything you did in “Stereo” is awesome, and “Days of 88” is pure gold. All 311 SA song when?
-Pnut: Right more music not lyrics. “Simple True” is great. Brings me back to your glory “Grassroots-Transistor” days, keep that shit up man.
-Chad: Keep up doing what you’re doing best, just do more! “Days of 88” and “Syntax Error” are top tier 311 for this generation. Keep that shit up!!!
stereolithic is so much better it's not even a contest.
Another year or two and stereolithic will be leading this poll
I give Mosaic a slight edge over Stereolithic.. but if Mosaic were only the Scotch 12 and there were no Feldy 5 it wouldn't even be close.
By 'conditioner' I mean 'Mosaic'.
I'm actually kind of surprised this board managed to have a poll with 72 votes.
Can not believe it's a couple months short of 5 years since Stereolithic came out. I'm only more confident in my original vote for it over Mosaic and I love most of that album. Quite the renaissance for the band!
Is it really? My head just exploded.
Where did 5 years go? I vividly remember getting my Stereolithic preorder out of my mailbox and unwrapping it.
I remember driving some place with my roommate, and being completely blown away by how familiar and awesome it sounded. Ebb and Flow will always remind me of that.
That SL leak thread was glorious.
I want to read that again. @parkerthegreat can you hit us up with the archive link?
The opening pages incredulous as hell, which warmed up to "this is pretty good" to a wave of love followed by a dozen "AAAAHHHH WWOOOOOOOOOO" posts.
I'm pretty sure I had like four or five posts during Friday Afternoon trying to process it.
I love Wildfire, for me its how the song starts off with that cool sweet catchy groove going on in the first half. I been waiting some years for 311 to make a track like that, and Wildfire absolutely did justice imo. Still should of been album opener, no question
For me, it IS the opening track. I have deleted TMTT and Titty Cough entirely.
Unfortunately the only thing I had time to archive before the purge was the Mosaic thread. Sorry bud.
I know, I know. GFY Parker.
True. I definately dont listen to Mosaic with TMTT either, but TTCOF i can handle to an extent (but rarely i listen to that song)and i definately understand why people cant stand it thats for sure. Its On a Roll that i cant get into for some reason, so as to have Mosaic as a 15-track album to me i throw Too Late as the closer instead and i think it works perfect.
Yeah dude, On A Roll is lame as fuck. I haven't officially deleted it but I rarely listen to it. I still maintain that even if I had "blind" listening to the album with no knowledge of any producers of the album, I would still single out the Feldy tracks as the weaknesses. All of his tracks are bottom tier for me and have not aged well.
Perfect Mistake particularly has not aged well at all for me. I kind of dug it for what it was when they first debuted it and even got a while after the album dropped. But I think I’ve actually listened to it one time I’m the past 6 months and that was when I finally got to listen to Mosaic on vinyl. The song isn’t necessarily bad, it’s just generic paint by numbers Feldified 311.
Yep, that's pretty much my experience with it as well. When it first came out I was excited for new 311 but I didn't know what to make of it on my first listen. Then I started to dig it a little. But then later on, especially after hearing the full album, I would hear it again and be like "this song is kind of stupid..." and that's it.
