In terms of spreading the virus via sports, I think this is the order from safest to least safe:
    • Tennis (safest)
    • Golf
    • Baseball
    • Soccer
    • Hockey
    • Football
    • Basketball (least safe)

Illinois moved to phase 4 of reopening on Friday. Part of the includes allowing indoor dining at bats and restaurants to limited capacity (25% capacity with a max of 50 people). Sounds like this didn’t go well near me in terms of crowds and enforcement. So I’m expecting a Chicago/Illinois surge in 2-4 weeks.

Fucking Millenials. (I know a number of you are millenials and are behaving responsibly).

We are sending our kids to a summer camp, which I really didn't think would be in the cards this year. Wife scouted things out and said this was the only camp she was comfortable with in our area.

It's a "nature immersion" camp, so it's 100% outdoors with a couple small groups (10 kids max) each session.

Nice to have the kids out of the house and doing something fun. It does mean we need to change how we're interacting with my parents though, which is too bad.

Kids loved their first day yesterday.

I'd expect golf to be the safest on that list.

We really need to debate between the two?

Audience is of course the deciding factor.

You don't need to do anything, but you're wrong about the audience being the deciding factor. We can control that variable and then compare how the virus would spread among participants playing various sports/games.

(Sorry, couldn’t resist dropping that GIF in response. Ha)

In (singles) tennis, the game itself is played far apart, and you can switch out balls without ever touching the one your opponent touched. To me, it seemed like the easiest to stay distanced. In golf, my thinking was that it’s easy to stay apart most of the time, but not all of the time (greens, tee boxes, if you happen to hit the ball close to where others have hit it) unless you’re careful, which is doable, but over the course of 18 holes I think there’s a greater chance of becoming lax with distancing in those situations. Both sports should be very doable during the pandemic, IMHO (and golf is already going).

(I was assuming no spectators for everything.)

My thinking being that the golfers could adhere to protocols and even play holes solo. On the other hand, tennis players could be forced into close proximity during the normal course of play.

UFC seems to be doing well. I think only Jacare and some cornerman has tested positive so far. You can't get much more person to person contact than fighting and dry humping.

I particularly enjoy the dry humping aspect of it.

Since there isn't any crowds. You can really hear those cups knocking. It's like ASMR, so relaxing.

It upsets me that they don’t use lube. Chafing tap outs are embarrassing.

I am not wrong. You actually can control that variable in golf more easily than Golf.
I disagree that social distancing would be more difficult.

Another factor is more droplets when running has been proven. Golf is less strenuous and we can assume less droplets.

You're wrong about the audience being the deciding factor because they can be removed from the equation entirely.

I'm a proud father as i got my 6 year old to mock the nikki manaj "corona VIIIIIII rus" on command.

All i gotta do is pose the question. "Coronavirus?"

    Her response "corona VIIIIIEEEE RUS."

    It's the little things.
