So, my husband was a DJ/techno musician in the late 90s and early 2000s. He is wanting to get back in and make some music. He knows all the basics, but his knowledge of computer programs and such is a couple decades old. I am clueless, but will relay message to him. What should programs do you recommend? Sites? Equipment?
We already have electronic drum set up and bass equipment. (He plays drums and bass) He likes mixing sounds to create music. He said his favorite is going to a location and recording sounds and then making a song from that...
What kind of computer does he have? If it's an Apple, it already comes with Garageband which is a good starting point to have a way to record and edit music.
We are building a PC from scratch. He has a way to incorporate MAC programs I don't fully understand, but he can do it.
Awesome. Yeah I always recommend starting with something like Garageband because you can do a lot in it and then if he's looking for something more he can always upgrade to Logic Pro X (that's what I use) or one of the other known programs like Ableton, Pro Tools, etc.
