I want to talk about Lucid Dreams. This song has largely been written off.... it’s a Feldy track sure, but something about it keeps my attention. I think the lyrics are strong and not entirely cheese filled. It is sort of one of these different modern 311 tracks that fits in with tranquility...

So is anyone going to join me in defending Lucid dreams?

The choruses are ridiculously feels-inducing, especially the first one that melts into that buttery little guitar solo that they totally should've expanded on to end the song. I hated the song at first, but now it's really the only Feldmann song I occasionally listen to on Voyager.

There are still too many Feldmann things going on in it, but it's more stripped down than the others and it's almost like you can tell Chad is playing drums from the middle of the track to the end, which is a step up from most of the other Feldmann songs.

I still despise the verses, but I find the chorus payoff to be worthy.

Other than Shaggy Nick, I really dont mind this song at all. 100% agree about expanding on the solo

I was a defender of this song from day 1. I kind of think Feldmann wasn't as involved in this one as the others.

It's fine. I don't see myself leaving it on very often when I'm listening by myself, but it pads the run time when having it on when my family is in the car.

I want them to go out on a hard note for the first time since DTOM, but it doesn't seem like the band likes that that album structure aspect anymore.

I'll admit I actually seek out the track to hear it.

I like it. Maybe it's the timing, maybe because my kids like it too. It just feels perfect at the end (for me).

I wish it went somewhere further and fuck Nicks delivery in the verse, but otherwise I don’t mind it at all.

Edit: You know what it reminds me of? If Feldmann tried to adapt Stealing Happy Hours into a modern pop song.

It's my favorite of the four Feldmann ones. But it's still my 4th least favorite of the album overall so I'm not ecstatic about it or anything. But I like it, I like it more than On a Roll that's for sure.

I think it might be my second favorite from Feldy.

    No.

I don't think the song has any redeemable qualities, especially at the end of an album.

When I first heard the song I said “Fuck 311 for closing the album with this track”. I didn’t think I’d listen to it again. It’s grown on me to the point where I can say I like it. I can’t put my finger on it but yeah, it grabs my attention for some reason. I think the instrumental, if we ever get it will give everyone a massive erection.

More like Lucid Nightmares. That song is fruity and has no business having 311's name attached to it.

I actually like this song now. I think it finally clicked. That pre-chorus part is still weird to me though, and I cringe a little when his voice starts to get deeper. The chorus is emotional and IMO actually works better than something like "My Heart Sings" or "Tranquility" (two most comparable tracks/enders).

But for the downsides... The one aspect that still smells of Feldy is just how repetitive the song is. My one main complaint with all of Feldy's tracks on this album is that they are all based around one or two parts that repeat a million times. Like with this song, they came up with a simple verse, simple pre-chorus, simple chorus, etc. and refuse to deviate from them at all. Just repeat all of the parts over and over and don't explore anything any further. That one little guitar solo creates an awesome atmosphere but they're like "Whoa whoa whoa! Let's not stray TOO far from the main parts or try an interesting structure."

the transition from ethereal (if you like it)/Mariah Carey (if you don't like it) Nick into the Shaggy part still sounds awkward to me.
